2016 Event Trends
The New Year is right around the corner and it’s the perfect time to chat about 2016 Event Trends. We’ve seen events move towards more of an overall guest experience with lots of focus on the details (our favorites) and touching the five senses – smell, touch, taste, see and feel.
Farm to Table is here to stay and local sourcing is always my recommendation. The food is an area where you can have lots of fun with pairings, texture and presentation. Be mindful of food sensitivities and allergies. Fresh Ingredients – herbs, fruits, vegetables, free range and organic meats
Food & Beverage Pairings
Think Charcuterie and artisan cheeses or chilled oyster bar paired with a fabulous Rose or Sauvignon Blanc…..ummm delish!!!
Buffets vs Food Stations
Buffet stations are a thing of the past. They never were really functional for serving a large number of people and someone always has a complaint or two (usually from the last table or two to be served). Food Stations create a more elegant and exciting culinary experience. Here is another opportunity to cultivate your design elements and bring them to life with themed stations: tapas, paella, sliders, Caesar salad in martini glasses….the ideas are limitless.
Sweets & Treats
Let’s cut to the chase…..no, you don’t need a cake to server all 150 guests. I recommend a cake for 60 % of your guest count and fill in the rest with other dessert options. The macaron has surpasses the cupcake in 2015 and looks strong to head into 2016 as a crowd favorite. Other options include cookies, brownies, donuts and panna cotta
Let’s not forget how much fun there is to be had in creating your bar menu. In 2016, we are going to see event bars come full swing and a lot of classic cocktails.
Innovative recipes for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with unusual combinations are still front runners. One of my favorites is a jalapeño peach martini.
Beer isn’t the only thing on tap
Mixed cocktails and wine on tap are definitely invited to the party in 2016. One of our favs is Define Wines.
Whiskey and Scotch are definitely more popular these days and not just for the fellas. Women & Whiskies is a great resource for women who enjoy whiskies and they host events all over.
When it comes to trends, don’t be afraid to set a few of your own…..but pay attention to the details and all your senses, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the experience.
Have a fabulous day,
